At the Colorado Mountain Bike Association (COMBA), we are passionate about fostering inclusivity and empowerment within our community of outdoor enthusiasts. Our Women's Program stands as a testament to this commitment, providing a supportive and enriching environment for all women to explore, grow, and thrive in the world of mountain biking.
Since its inception in 2017, the COMBA Women's Program, nestled in the Front Range of Colorado, has been on a mission to strengthen the women's mountain biking community. With a deep understanding of the unique challenges and barriers that women may face in male-dominated sports, the program was created to break down these barriers and empower women to embrace the joy and freedom of mountain biking without hesitation. Moreover, historically underrepresented groups such as Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) encounter additional hurdles like cost, trail accessibility, and lack of representation in the sport. The COMBA Women’s Program is dedicated to dismantling these barriers, offering equal opportunities, and advocating for better inclusivity in the sport.
Whether you're a seasoned rider or brand new, our program welcomes women of all skill levels, ages, and backgrounds. One of the cornerstones of the COMBA Women's Program is our emphasis on education and skill-building. Through a variety of clinics, workshops, and guided rides led by experienced female instructors, participants have the opportunity to enhance their technical abilities, build confidence on the trails, and learn essential safety practices. From mastering basic bike handling skills to conquering challenging terrain, our goal is to equip women with the knowledge and skills they need to ride with confidence and independence.
Our program goes beyond just honing physical skills. We recognize the transformative power of community and camaraderie in empowering women both on and off the bike. Through group rides and social events, participants have the chance to connect with like-minded women, forge lasting friendships, and cultivate a supportive network of fellow riders. Whether it's cheering each other on during a challenging climb or celebrating victories at the end of a ride, the sense of companionship and solidarity within our community is truly unparalleled.
Moreover, the COMBA Women's Program is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the mountain biking community. We strive to create a welcoming and accessible environment where women of all backgrounds feel valued, respected, and represented. Many of our events are exclusively for BIPOC individuals, we have specific events conducted in Spanish, and ensure our volunteers are representative of the community we are serving to ensure a safe and welcoming space for all women.By amplifying diverse voices and experiences, we aim to foster a more inclusive and equitable outdoor culture where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Through the COMBA Women's Program, we've witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of mountain biking on women's lives. From newfound confidence and independence to a deeper connection with nature and community, the benefits extend far beyond the trails. Whether you're seeking adventure, empowerment, or simply a supportive community to share your passion for mountain biking, we invite you to join us on this incredible journey.
Each season, our program draws in approximately 600-800 women, with the support of 10-15 local companies and organizations, as well as partnerships with Denver Parks and Recreation, the City of Golden, and the City of Greenwood Village. It's been amazing to see how much this program and community has grown over the last 7+ years and we're looking forward to the upcoming season! As a non-profit organization, we couldn't do what we do without the support of our partners, so a huge shout out to VOITED for your continued support of the women's mountain bike community and for keeping us warm and toasty on those cooler days!
Together, let's ride towards a more inclusive, empowering, and vibrant future for women in mountain biking. Join the COMBA Women's Program today and discover the joy of shredding trails, forging friendships, and embracing your true potential on and off the bike.
